SPKiller (Service and Process Killer) is a windows service that sits quietly on a timer thread in the background, stopping and killing any service and/or process that you specify in the SPKPreferences.xml file every n milliseconds. Very handy for things you just can’t seem to get rid of - AdobeUpdater, GoogleToolbarNotifier, AppleMobileDeviceService, etc, etc.
Download, extract, view the ReadMe.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
***note***
The SPKPreferences.xml is preconfigured with several services and processes that can prove to be performance drains, or just annoying in general. Modify this file to suit your needs.

Great app, thanks!
Do I have to be a programmer to use this utility — eg, to modify the xml doc to make it behave?
Hi Victor,
Its really easy - just add/remove service and process names between the ServiceNames and ProcessNames in the SPKPreferences.xml file. The ‘CycleTime’ is in milliseconds and sets the time interval for how often you want SPKiller to scan the system and shut down the processes and services you’ve specified.
You can always post here if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them

I get the message:
“The SPKService service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do . . . .”
I have Norton Internet Security. Could that be stopping it?
Thanks.

Hi.
Thanks for your dev efforts! I’ll sure try this killer app, man! Have ever heard about AnVir? Take a look at it (a pity it doesn’t work as service nor does it have any sys drive…): http://anvir.com
As another suggestion, I guess you’ll love Surun, here: http://forum.kay-bruns.de/ (admin tool).

Hi Len,
I’m not sure what’s causing the service to stop here - I’ll try to duplicate the issue and look into it. A quick question - do you notice the processes you’ve configured in the XML being shut down?
Thanks
